Photolibrary Boosts Footage Offering with Getty Deal
UK-headquartered Photolibrary has boosted its footage offering with an agreement to represent two class footage collections from Getty Images -- the Image Bank and Archive films holdings. The company says the latest venture "boosts Photolibrary's drive into the global footage market and strengthens its partnership relationship with Getty Images". The Image Bank collection is based mainly on 35mm film shot for licensing, while that of Archive Films contains historic and ephemeral footage. The agreement coincides with the launch of a new style Photolibrary website including for the first time a dedicated footage offering which includes access to its Oxford Scientific wholly owned and representation collection. Photolibrary is a strong operator in the photo licensing industry, but up until now offered only the OSF footage material. For Getty Images, the deal appears to be a reversal of its normal policy of repping third-party copyrights, rather than having other represent its own holding.
